American Consumers Want Clean Energy
According to research done by Yale and Harvard, “The average U.S. citizen is willing to pay 13 percent more for electricity in support of a national clean-energy standard (NCES).” That’s approximately $162 more a year in electricity bills. But to Americans – it’s worth it to have a clean, healthy environment.
NPR recently reported Americans living in close proximity to hydro-fracking have been reporting similar health issues such as “headaches, rashes, wheezing, aches and pains and other symptoms.” Though, there is still no proof that these symptoms are caused by fracking. There are definite health concerns still being addressed, two years later, in the area of the BP Gulf Oil Spill. Many of the human health concerns stem from the use of the dispersant Corexit as well as oil that has entered the food chain through fish and other seafood caught in the Gulf. With these environmental and health risks it’s no wonder the average American has noticed its importance of clean energy.
Even big companies like Google making clean energy a priority through win cables, and you can too. OF course they WANT clean energy. They just don't want to pay thousands of dollars for it. That's the problem we face right now.
