Victory for Parks and Trails New York!

Congratulations to EarthShare NY member Park and Trails New York (PTNY) on their victory!

According to a PTNY announcement, a deal has been made to keep state parks and historic sites open for at least another year. The state wanted to shut down some parks and sites in an effort to save money, but thanks to the many citizens who voiced their concern for the beloved New York recreational sites the parks will remain open.

The battle has been won, but the war to keep these parks open year after year continues. If you’d like to learn more, visit the PTNY website and check out their Spring 2010 edition of GreenSpace newsletter. You can help keep New York parks open by becoming a PTNY member and by visiting your local parks this summer to show your support. Visit the PTNY trail finder and discover local trails ready to be explored by you and your family!
