New Waterfront Park in Queens
Jamaica Bay in Queens, NY will be getting a new waterfront park in an area originally set aside for
private housing development. According to Trust for Public Land press release,
the park will now give local residents the opportunity for kayaking, fishing, picnicking,
boating and more. The Jamaica Bay
community currently lacks open public space. This park will serve over 2,400
people who live within a quarter-mile of the location. Adrian Benepe, the Parks
& Recreation Commissioner for New York has stated the City is committed to
increasing efforts for improving open space for the various New York
communities.
